Children in Ballet

Editors of the IngoDance portal pay special attention to our little readers: those who are interested in ballet and those who make their first steps in this great art. We believe our photo essay won’t leave anyone indifferent - you will be fascinated by the young dancers, just like we are!

The opportunity to make this photo essay was kindly given to us by the oldest theatrical educational institution in Moscow, the well-known "talent pipeline" that children from all over the country dream of entering into - the Moscow State Academy of Choreography.

The history of the Academy began on December 23, 1773. On this day, the first "dancing classes" were opened in the Moscow Orphanage, established by order of Empress Catherine II. During its lifetime, the Academy has been through a lot: it was both a school and a college, it survived the change of political regimes and World War II.

You can find more information about the history of the Academy on the official website of the institution.

The present days of the Academy are inextricably linked with the name of its rector; in 2002, this position was taken by Marina Konstantinovna Leonova - Ph.D. in Arts Criticism, Professor, People's Artist of Russia, Laureate of the Russian Federation Government Award. Under her leadership, the Academy continued working and developing. In 2016, it was included in the State Code of Particularly Valuable Objects of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of the Russian Federation by decree of President Vladimir Putin. In 2019, three branches of the Academy were opened in Vladivostok, Kaliningrad and Kemerovo.

100% of graduates who received secondary vocational education here are in demand in their profession; 96% of them receive higher education.

Come on, let's now open the door of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, dive into its magical atmosphere and look at the faces of their students - we are sure there is a future world ballet star among them!
