Capturing episodes of a single day in pictures and recording thoughts about art and life - IngoDance managed to do this together with ballet dancer Eva Sergeenkova, who lives at the Bolshoi for the first season.

Ballet is the meaning of my entire life, it is my lifestyle. It determines both my physical and spiritual state, as well as the vector of my vital interests. Books, movies, places - everything is somehow connected with this art for me. I cannot live without it.

I have a lot of respect for all-round people, for example, I admire the genius of Leonardo da Vinci. I believe that we should all develop, learn as much as possible about our world. Many things and events that are not related to our field of activity deserve our attention.

At the same time, I’d like to devote myself to ballet. So, at this moment, I don’t want to imagine myself doing anything else.

Ballet will always be a special art for me. When I watch videos of the great ballerinas of the past, I am fascinated by the power of art against all odds. The parts by Marina Semyonova and Galina Ulanova in Swan Lake are not just a choreographic text, they are a story passed through their souls. When Maya Plisetskaya was hovering above the stage in Don Quixote, the audience was amazed not only by her technique and the height of her jump, but also by how she managed to transform into this cheerful Spanish girl Kitri, despite all the hardships of her life. At that time, most ballerinas had problems, even experienced the death of their relatives in jail. This ability to give emotions on stage is incredible, such a deep art cannot but touch.

Hardships mold the character, overcoming them we begin to appreciate the moments of happiness. When people face some problem and cope with it, they become stronger. They understand how valuable are the things they have and begin to really cherish them.

Literature is an infinite source of inspiration. I believe artists who try to be honest on stage spend a lot of time preparing for the role, and books help them in this process. Reading books, we can understand the feelings of our characters, find way into the atmosphere of the era to be able to live it on stage. But I can’t single out one favorite book: it would be unfair. I read classical literature: I am really fond of Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, great Pushkin, Shakespeare.

Envy is an absolutely destructive feeling; like weights on your legs, it doesn’t allow a person to develop independently, to go towards their dreams. I work with amazing people, whom I admire and respect truly. It seems to me you must go your own way and, most importantly, work honestly.

Your dedication to creativity and desire to develop every day, never stopping, are the essentials of our profession. For me, as an artist, the eternal creative search and the inextinguishable need for creation are important. Now ballet is my only passion, it fills all my thoughts. I believe that you need to give yourself completely to what you love.

Watching an artist's work, we can admire their talent. But behind this beauty we see on stage, there is a tremendous amount of work. It won’t work without effort and conscious daily self-improvement. There is no talent without hard work. Therefore, hard work and conscious self-improvement are, probably, the most important things.

One of my favorite quotes is “Walk and ye shall reach.” You must work, never give up and enjoy what you are doing.

Taking the stage of the Bolshoi Theater, I feel real happiness. It's an incredible honor and responsibility at the same time. Before going onstage, I am in awe of this place waiting so much for this moment of unity with the music. This is a special energy, a special experience when you feel the support of the audience.
